- Popular across the news this week was an article that illustrated the real struggle of farmers out here in the Wheatbelt. A government source suggests 35 per cent of all farms in WA are failing to make a profit. It has been difficult for many farmers in the Wheatbelt with years of bad weather exacerbating financial challenges. Read the whole article here.
- Cranmore Home opened their new store in Moora this week. They’re open from 10-4 Tuesday thru Friday if you want to pop in and have a look at the beautiful range in store. Or have a look at the Cranmore Home Facebook page for more info.
- “The Great Merredin Cook-Off”, held as a part of Healthy Weight Week, was a great success, with 110 locals coming down to join in the fun. More information can be found here.

- Little Gem Theatre in Wagin, the only cinema in a 200km radius, has had to close its doors after being evicted. The theatre played their last film “The Water Diviner” on February 14 (which I was fortunate enough to be at). Read more about the sad situation and how you can help here.
- Tekura Irvine, of Beacon, and Brittany Reinke of Koorda, had the opportunity to meet with Member for Durack Melissa Price, who welcomed them to Parliament House, as part of their Heywire finalist trip earlier this month. For their entries, the girls drew on their experiences at Cunderdin Agricultural College and life in the Wheatbelt. Find out more here.
