This past Christmas, Wheatbelt Local ran the first Wheatbelt Christmas Card Exchange. The idea behind the project was to provide a fun way for Wheatbelt residents to get to meet new people and spread the Xmas joy, all whilst bringing back the forgotten love of sending and receiving a hand-written letter.
Over twenty-three letters were sent across the region, with both male and female participants aged between eight and sixty-eight taking part in the fun! For most of the people involved, a letter was received from a mystery friend and another one sent to a different person of similar age and interests, therefore gaining two new friends in the process.
A big thanks to everyone who participated! After last year’s success and continued interest, we have decided to run the card exchange this Christmas as well. If this sounds like something that will interest you, jot down your details here and we will be in contact later in the year to see if you are still interested. You don’t have to be a current Wheatbelt resident, we will allow former residents (like people who have had to move to the big smoke for study) to participate too!
Wishing you all the best for the year ahead!
If you participated and have some photos sending or receiving a card, we would love to see. Please email us at info@wheatbeltlocal.com.au
